" A fresh new post-punk band made in Brussels and singing in Italian "

“Niente Da Offrire”, Victoria Barracato, singer in lo-fi post-punk band Ada Oda, shouts out loud, in her native Italian language, on their very first single released in March 2022. Nothing to offer, really? Well the Brussels-based band are actually releasing their first album, ‘Un Amore Debole’, this fall. It consists of ten pop, punk, short and ultra effective tracks carried by a tense rhythm, crystalline and melodic guitars on top of which the singular voice of Victoria is added.

Formed in 2020 during the lockdown, Ada Oda is a smart combination of two universes: the pop rock of César Laloux (ex-BRNS, Italian Boyfriend, Mortalcombat) and the freshness of Victoria’s Italian lyrics (fun fact: she’s the daughter of popular Belgian-Italian singer Frédéric François). They surround themselves with Marc Pirard (Italian Boyfriend), Aurélien Gainetdinoff (San Malo) and Alex De Bueger (Alaska Gold Rush, Big Heart). Together, they wrote a recipe for super effective lo-fi and vintage pop-punk music, thanks to a thunderous “guitars, bass, drums” combination.

Victoria sings about love, disillusionment, hope and the meaningless stories of our generation, but with no requirement to understand Italian to deep dive into their universe, thanks to the intensity, the energy and the emotions released by their songs. On ‘Niente Da Offrire’, it is aggressiveness and anger that dominate whereas on ‘Un Amore Debole’, their second single, we feel a more jaded aspect. Emotions are also easy to interpret thanks to the aesthetics of their video clips, to which they clearly pay special attention. In line with groups such as Wet Leg (for whom they played as the opening act at a concert in Belgium in May), Gustaf or Dry Cleaning, Ada Oda offers a performance without artifice, honest, and of a formidable efficiency. After a remarkable tour in Italy and a few rare dates in France and Belgium, we hope to cross paths with this fresh and energetic project that was missing on the Belgian guitar scene. Go listen to their first album ‘Un Amore Debole’ now on 62 TV Records.
