Cold pop

" Energetic abandon and melancholic swaying on the dance floor. "

Since their beginning in 2014, Coals have been an electrifying force in the music scene, crafting not just songs, but veritable works of art. Comprised of the dynamic duo Katarzyna “Kacha” Kowalczyk and Łukasz Rozmysłowski, Coals transcend the boundaries of conventional music-making, delving into the realm of the avant-garde, where sound and vision intertwine seamlessly.

Performance is paramount in the world of Coals, where every show is a sensory journey combining captivating visuals with mesmerizing music. Their dedication to visual excellence goes beyond their performances: the two artists take full control of their work, usually directing their own photo shoots and music videos with precision.

Refusing to be confined by genre, Coals boldly ventures into a realm of sonic exploration, effortlessly blending elements of electro-pop with a myriad of adjacent genres. The result is a captivating union they aptly term “cold pop” — a genre-defying sound that tantalizes the senses and leaves audiences yearning for more.

After ‘Tamagotchi’ (2017) and ‘docusoap’ (2020), Coals released their third album ‘Sanatorium’ in March 2024. It is a captivating journey marked by unconventional rhythms that challenge listeners, particularly evident in tracks like ‘nowy świat’ (“new world”). Songs like ‘duuuch’ and ‘Plaza’ evoke a melancholic longing, while ‘kurort’ (“resort”) seamlessly blends danceable beats with velvety vocals, creating an entrancing contrast. In ‘batalija’, they venture into more experimental territory, with a pulsating beat that propels the listener forward into uncharted sonic realms. The experience isn’t just about listening; it’s about immersing oneself in a journey through sound and vision, where every note is a brushstroke in the canvas of auditory artistry.
