If you’re looking for genre-bending soundscapes, you’re in the right place. Elliphant creates a clever fusion of hip-hop, indie pop, and grime, ignoring musical boundaries and exhibiting an outspoken perspective. Ellinor Olovsdotter put flesh on her moniker sometime in the early 2010s, when she travelled to London with her dubstep sound system. Her innovative mix of sounds have criss-crossed the globe since then, reflecting her bold mindset, jaw-dropping inspiration, and badass attitude, rapping about everything, showing the finger to everyone, while becoming blatantly personal (“I sacrifice health, flush down my ego”, she raps on ‘Therapy’). Her new album, ‘Troll’, out in early 2024, speaks against our overconsuming lifestyle and in favor of mother-nature, as well as the challenges of being a mother herself. It is also unhinged perfection.

What put her on the map was her debut single, ‘Tekkno Scene’, a kinetic and attention-grabbing track that drew lofty comparisons to MIA and even appeared in the video game FIFA 13. Countless collaborations (Diplo, Doja Cat, David Guetta, among others), international tours and festivals (including Glastonbury, Reading, Coachella and Roskilde), and four albums later Elliphant stays uncompromising and raw. She’s bringing down walls with grungy and fast-paced rhythms, challenging comfort zones, making addictive dance pop and providing a vibrant soundtrack to her commentary on love and politics.
