" Cry Hammok and let slip the dogs of war! "

Picture the scene: it’s high summer, the sun is bearing down on the tin roof of a festival stage, and there’s more sweat lodge than actual concert venue at this point. It’s the thankless mid-afternoon slot. You have to give it your all even though everyone is more focused on pre-partying, locating their mates, getting a fresh pint.

Not when Hammok play, though. When Hammok play, things. Go. OFF. Your mates? Forget about them, they’re gone, lost in the mosh. Fresh pint? Pour it over someone’s head to cool them off, that’s about the best thing you can do with it. Time? Space? It doesn’t matter. What even are time and space, when people are bouncing off each other, off the walls, off the band?

Who cares. Figure it out on your own time. Right now, it’s just pure havoc. Pardon, Hammok. The Norwegian trio have been tearing up stages with their relentless sonic assault, throwing riffs and screams at audiences in a surprisingly accessible way. Cross-pollinating influences in the fine tradition of bands like Converge or Every Time I Die, they’ve come up with an idiosyncratic take on aggressive, furious music with an edge. Call it noise rock or hardcore or alternative or post-whatever, this is music for jumping, dancing, fighting. No, we didn’t come up with that on our own – it’s the title of their debut EP, the one that quietly established them as a force to be reckoned with, further confirmed by their 2024 debut full-length ‘Look How Long Lasting Everything Is Moving Forward For Once’. That one hits even harder. Play it. Lose your mind. Hit the floor. Let the chaos wash over you. Let Hammok rule.
