" The day-to-day life of a lover, a longer, and campsite, folk-singer fanatic "
“I used to get compliments on my tan-lines”, sings quirky, indie-folk singer-songwriter Anna Erhard on ‘Campsite’, the titular track on her newly released second album. The Swiss musician, formerly of the folk-band Serafyn and now based in Berlin, worked alongside Wir Sind Helden drummer Pola Roy to manifest the loose, musical notebook of idiosyncratic tales that make up the new record. Through her music, the singer opens herself up like a diary, in which the listener can learn more on her run ins with love, her insecurities, dreams, and of course, her passion for camping; all the while sound like an introspective Wet Leg, or an offbeat, alpine Fiona Apple
“We could offer each other our sweaters,” she hums on laid-back indie single ‘Guestroom’, offering up her new city space to visiting guests. Whilst remaining authentic. A base-layer of deadpan humour and sarcasm runs deep in the song’s DIY aesthetics, subtle synths, and melancholic guitars. It’s a singular sound that narrates her journey through life.
Her music is forlorn and hopeful at the same time, whether it’s in 2021 debut ‘Short Cut’, or the present. “I wish you were closer, I wish you were near me,” Erhard pines on ‘I Wish’. The wistful folk song highlights the singer’s ability to craft longful and doting love-songs that bleed a deepened sense of reality. It’s a tone that still sits firm and right next to the camp-loving ‘Campsite’; all depicting the transitions and day-to-day sensibilities of one of Berlin’s most charming and graceful folk singers.
