" Lana Del Rey with a Balkan pinch "

When you start your songwriting journey at the age of 9, it seems natural that a couple of decades later, your powerful lyrics form the core of your creative output. Combining emotional and honest lyrics with complex vocal harmonies and energetic beats, Iva Lorens (named after her sister’s namesake character in the video game The Sims) has put Serbia on the map of European contemporary pop.

Considering herself firstly a songwriter and then singer and producer, Iva is well versed in pop music. Her immersion in the genre began years earlier when she spent 5 years working as a TV host for the regional MTV Adria channel. Initially recording in English during her college years in Berlin, she later shifted to her hometown of Belgrade, releasing music in her native language. Since 2021, when her Balkan musical journey began, she has formed an all-female band, toured the USA, released a track mentored by Jason Derulo, and earned recognition as an artist to watch by regional Vogue Adria magazine and Impala’s “Top 100 Artists to Watch 2024” selection.

After amassing over 400k streams with her debut EP ‘I Guess It’s About You’, Iva released the acclaimed coming-of-age album ‘Svitanje’ (which translates as ’Sunrise’) in 2023. Dedicated to strong and inspiring women, the album criticises the expectations imposed on women in the Balkan region and celebrates female emancipation and body positivity, themes intertwined with those of love and nightlife. Her latest release, the song ‘Dom’ (‘Home’), presented at the 2024 Serbian Eurovision contest, earned praise for Iva’s energetic performance, reminiscent of Dua Lipa, solidifying her status as a rising force in regional pop music.
