" Songs for sunny days and warm nights "
Whenever I think of tea, it reminds me of a Sunday afternoon in my grandmother’s house, with scones and some music playing. The soundtrack would be some classical tunes by Puccini, Handel, Ravel or Villa-Lobos.
Like this memory, Time for T’s music feels a bit nostalgic. Like that old friend that comes to visit you, or those summer vacations when you were in high school. But it doesn’t feel old.
Time for T’s music is full of history and stories. Imagine starting a band while studying in Brighton (UK) with a Portuguese singer, a Brazilian drummer, a Brit on bass and a Spaniard on guitars and keyboards. And your songs evoke the memories of Bob Dylan, but also the desert wind like Tinariwen, the blues of Nick Drake, and even some bossa nova from Rodrigo Amarante.
If you listen to ‘Ronda’, you are transported to the Spanish town where Ernest Hemingway or Orson Welles fell in love. In ‘Calling Back’, you get to travel to Lagos, the place where Tiago Saga, Time for T singer, grew up, a place “full of life, in a ghost town”. You can even feel “Sun On My Back”, one of the songs from the latest album.
The band already released 3 albums full of songs that feel familiar, and cosy. If you have the opportunity to catch them live (in a full band or even a solo show), that energy is more intense. It’s strange when the crowd stays quiet. But you have to listen with full attention to Tiago’s words, while the band plays such a comforting sound. Time for T makes it look easy to write simple songs.
