" A dream-like mosaic of alt pop and soft electronica, where every sound wants to hug you "

At a time when the sound of Polish music has become painfully schematic, Youth Novels appear as a stark alternative. They are mood wizards and romantics of minimalism who, with minimal resources, aim to hit the most sensitive of places.

Thanks to this approach, the duo that is Youth Novels manage to create a sound that is extremely honest and deep in its sensibility. There is nothing more universal in the world of music than emotions, which is why Anna Babrakowska and Emil Nowak are one of the most interesting Polish bands today. Unlike artists from the top of the radio charts or popular playlists on streaming services, they have a real shot at a more international success.

Although their career has been going for just a few years, they already have a lot of reasons to be proud on their artistic CV. Begins with the records, which have been excellently received by both critics and listeners, passes through performances at the most important Polish festivals, and ends, for now, with playing support to Oh Wonder and Father John Misty. If we mention cooperating with people responsible for the successes of RY X, Ólafur Arnalds, and The xx, then we begin to understand why going their own way from the very beginning was clearly the right choice. By taking small but sure steps, Youth Novels are consistently heading to the place they are destined to be – a similar path to that of Daughter, London Grammar and Beach House, bands to which they are so often compared.

The distinctive, dream-like voice of Anna Babrakowska and the compositional and instrumental artistry of Emil Nowak constitute the foundations of the duo, whose style combines elements of ambient, dream pop and electro-acoustic, minimalistic indie which can be found in their latest EP “Blue”. Lyrics filled to the brim with emotional poetry and a subtle mosaic of sounds arranged in a delicate and subtle way. In the era of notorious excitement, Youth Novels music appears as an antidote.
